A Fun Weekend! NOT!!!

condopaint.png
Well, I spent the weekend painting the condo, with some help from Dan. We kept getting comments that the place was too dark, and that was mostly a result of my paint choices in there. So this weekend, I spent it painting the place Lemon White. Let’s hope it does the trick! 🙂

So again, should any of you know of anybody looking for a place to buy, please let them know about my place. Asking price is $104,400.00. To find out more about the unit, it is listing 304582 on realtor.com, or you can contact my real estate agent: Deborah Etheridge of Renaissance Realty at 303-744-9415 or e-mail daeboss@aol.com.

So today at work, the place will remain anonymous in order to protect the innocent (namely me), I experienced one of the biggest WTFs in my time there. A few months ago, the company decided to take part of the work out of the stores, and ship the work to India. Thanks George!

Anyway, the past week I have started to experience the work coming from this company in India. The problem I have encountered here is that the company doing the work for us is using newer software than our company supports. So I have had to go back to the store that sent me the job, and ask that they get in touch with India to save the file back to an earlier format for us. So we then have to wait till this is accomplished and the file is sent back to me.

This is not the first time I have encountered jobs in newer versions of the software, but it is the first time it has come from a supposed “within the company source.” I sent out a request to the regional technology personnel. I asked to find out when we would be supporting the software, or if there was a possibility that our facility could upgrade given our special circumstances. They in turn sent that on to their boss.

I got cc’d in on an e-mail that went to someone at corporate, and that response was “Shouldn’t India be using software that we fully support?” So basically, corporate feels that this company, in India mind you, that is apparently more advanced than us, needs to downgrade to meet our company’s needs! Obviously someone didn’t do their research to make sure that everyone was on the same page to start with!

I understand that it is an expensive proposition to upgrade company wide, but when many of our clients are bringing work to us in programs that are newer than we have, it kind of makes us look bad! I guess that is the nature of large corporate conglomerations!

Erasure: The Acoustic Tour – May 16, 2006

erasurepic.png
Well, my sixth Erasure concert has come and gone. And while, I didn’t get to meet them once again, I did get a nod from Andy! He was about to sing a song off of their 1997 release Cowboy, when he noticed my Cowboy shirt, and that sent him into a reminiscing moment. He remembered, albeit, inaccurately the last time the came to Colorado. He thought it was in 1997 for the tour of the same album my shirt was from. The audience quickly corrected him that they had just been here last year. He got a little embarrassed I think, and then told us an amusing story about how he can’t remember anything, not even two lines of dialogue for a movie he was in.

Some of the major highlights were the Hoedown rendition of Blue Savannah, and the brilliantly perfect Rock Me Gently. Getting to hear their music live with a complete back-up band stripped of any synths helped to reaffirm that I don’t just like them because they are an electronic band, but because dammit, they make great music! And it sounds great in any format! I loved the up tempo country influenced Victim of Love, and Stop was great! As Howard pointed out, Dolly needs to get ahold of this one!

The crowd was amazing, one of the loudest crowds I can remember at a concert! Erasure are certainly not lacking any followers even 20+ years since their first release! Even saw some future fans, saw at least two or three young kids, probably 9-12 that were enjoying themselves! Best of all, I got to see them in my hometown of Boulder! And at the end, Andy gave us all the excitement of looking forward to a new album, or something from them, as he said we would see them again next year! Thanks Vince and Andy for a fantastic night! And thank you Howard for coming and sharing it with me!

What’s That Smell?

play-doh-web-home.png
So last night, Dan came home and was talking about a customer that had come in that smelled like play-doh… I looked at him, and said, “oh, she must be wearing that new Play-Doh perfume.” before he had a chance, as I could see he thought I was joking, I blurted out… “I’M NOT JOKING!”

Well, here you go Dan, demeterfragrance.com! With scents like, Dirt, Holy Water (baby pee I bet!), Lettuce and Funeral Home, Play-Doh has become their latest fun scent. You name it, they probably have the scent.

I Almost Lost My Mind This Weekend!

rosie1.png
Well, I want to take a moment to thank Patricia at La Crosse Plumbing. She has helped make my stressful week, a lot less stressful! Last Saturday, Dan threw a birthday party for my 35th. Things were going great till the toilet stopped working that evening. Dan and I tried plunger after plunger, and nothing worked (we now have 5 different kinds of plungers!). Then we tried an auger to no avail. So I called in the “Professionals.” Never call Roto-Rooter… they are a RIP OFF! They wanted to charge me $4000 to replace the entire plumbing of the house, because it “needed it.”

Well, after having a nervous break down, I finally got sensible and looked on one of the local gay and lesbian sites Cafe Vivid. There I found my savior, Patricia! She came in yesterday and got a good chuckle at the scary plumbing the previous owners had done. Namely a 1 1/2” pipe coming from the bathtub, that connected into a 2” drain… but they never sealed it. So when the drain backed up all the crap started flowing out that pipe and all over the crawl space. She informed me that she could replace the messed up section for around $200 and then I just would need to get a drain cleaner in here to clean out the line. She recommended a place that would do it for $160.

Now I am just waiting for them to call and come out and clean out the drain so we can get back to normal and move back into the house. We have been living back at the condo this week while we having no working bathroom here at the house. I do hope they call soon! I can’t afford another day off from work! So that is the latest saga on the house. Maybe we will be able to have another party soon!
