While today is my official birthday, we had my party last night. My close friends and family joined me at Red Lobster for a wonderful evening of seafood! I have been craving lobster for quite some time now and had to satisfy that urge! Thanks to Dan for making that happen! I want to thank everyone that came. It meant a lot to me to have all of you come out last night!
It has been a rough year this past year while I tried selling my condo. As a result, when the HRC announced the True Colors concert, I was saddened as I knew I would not be able to afford to go. I was excited by the opportunity to get to see Cyndi Lauper finally! And yes, of course, Erasure! 🙂 What an outstanding line-up it was to be. Erasure, Cyndi, Debbie Harry, The Dresden Dolls, The Gossip, The Misshapes, The Clilks and Margaret Cho hosting! As Dan put it, the Gayest Concert on Earth! So, I decided to leave it to the fates and ask for the concert for my birthday. Thanks to Dan, Howard and Lorne, I am going to get to go to the concert! They all went in on buying me tickets together so that myself and a guest could go! Thank you three sooo much for making it such a wonderful birthday present!
I only wanted two things for my birthday… Selling the condo, and tickets to the concert, and I got both! I feel very blessed to have such great friends and a great boyfriend to make the latter a reality for me! I look forward to the concert!!! Thank you to Robin for the iTunes giftcard! Always a welcome gift! 🙂 Matthias and Adam for the Lowe’s giftcard (new kitchen light here you come!). I also want to thank Howard for a wonderful tribute post to our friendship over the last decade! It is hard to believe it has been that long already!
I am sure this concert is a dream come true for Erasure as well, since they will be touring with Debbie Harry, one of their major influences. They have done many covers of Blondie songs over the years! Maybe I will get to see the two performing a duet together! I am already expecting a duet with Andy and Cyndi since they have collaborated on a song together!
Wow, what a busy weekend this has already been! I had a birthday party to go to for Dan’s sister last night, a going away party for a long-time co-worker of mine, and then a birthday party for Dan’s niece today! And then I have my birthday party tomorrow night since Dan works on my birthday this Monday.
First off, I want to wish Karen all the best as she starts a new life in Grand Junction, CO. She will be going to open up one of the new Compact Car stores for FedEx Kinko’s. The company is set to expand like wildfire in the next few years, and as a result many co-workers are getting the opportunity to try new hats. I look forward to hearing how she adjusts to life in a small town!
Kevin over at Actorschmactor has a great post on fears and why we have them. I really think it boils down to our fears helping keep us grounded and real!
Blogography celebrated his 4th year blogging on this incarnation of his blog! Congrats… Here’s to many more years!
The Hermit has a funny post written from his cat’s point of view about all the changes he has been going through with moving out to a secluded shed.
Bossy has realized what a hoodie and wind can do to her… It makes her on the most wanted list!
I’m so proud of my Dan! After only 3 weeks he has earned a well deserved full-time position at his new job! A feat they said would take 3 months.
This is a very scary statistic that has been pointed out by Spooky!
Spicy gives us an update on Mandrake‘s adjusting to his missing appendage. Apparently he is finally realizing that his leg will not be growing back. At least Mandrake has a very loving family to help him adjust!
And finally an interesting new study from scientists that give sufferers of migraines some good news about a painful condition.
I am sure most of you know about this, but it doesn’t hurt to remind people. Many of the chain restaurants have websites where you can register for updates. One of those perks for updates can sometimes include free food for your birthday!
Today I am having free lunch on Noodles & Co! Tomorrow’s lunch will be courtesy of Qdoba! And I have a free Blizzard coming to me from Dairy Queen! Yeah you have to put up with an occasional e-mail about new products, but, Hey, it’s free food! 🙂
I am going to have to sign up for more so that next year I have a whole week of free food!
As you can see, my blog has gotten a bit of a face lift again. With the tweaks to the theme, my friend, Dusty, felt that I needed a new header and volunteered to create something for me. As you can see, he is very talented with cartoon images! He definitely took some liberties and made me way hotter than I think I really am. But, damn, is the header ever cool!
I really think he should start up a business doing this, he is so talented! He could make so much money doing it for a living! And he has some fantastic illustrations on his site. Some are on the NSFW side, but they are great!
Thanks again Dusty for the early birthday present! 🙂 Which, btw, is less than a week away now! 🙂
The updated version of the theme for my blog has been released. I am currently working on tweaking it to my likings. Please stop by and let me know what you think of the changes and if you see anything that doesn’t seem to be working just right.
So last week around the time of selling the condo, Our ceiling fan started having problems. The pull chain that turns the light on and off broke, and it became a real challenge to turn the light on and off. So Friday night, Dan and I headed off to Home Depot to look for new ceiling fans. We picked the right day to be sure! All in stock fans were 20% off! So we got the fan for $103!
I spent a few hours yesterday tearing the old fan out, and installing the beautiful brand new fan you see above! After going through every breaker in the box to find that it was on the same circuit as our furnace, I finally got the old one disassembled, and started working on the new one. The best part after all was said and done, is that it turns on and works great!
However, the most important thing…. It’s remote controlled! So now we can enter a whole new level of laziness and change the speed and dim the light from the comfort of the couch! Now I have to work on the kitchen light, it’s one of those old hideous circular florescent bulbs that are exposed.
Well, I think I wet myself a little again this morning thanks to Howard! He sent me a link to the new trailer for Order of The Phoenix! Here it is in all it’s glory! This is shaping up to be the best of the movies so far!
If you want to see the high definition trailer, it has been released at yahoo now!
Disney has announced that Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas is coming to theaters this Oct. 20th in Disney Digital 3D!
Not only is this by far Tim Burton’s best film to date, but it is quite possible one of the best animated films of all time in my opinion. I still remember just being in awe of the masterpiece the first time I saw it in theaters! This film really will lend itself to a 3D treatment very well!
UPDATE 04/23/07: Well apparently, I somehow missed that this was actually released last Oct. 20th. What I have found out about is that it is getting a theatrical re-release this year on Oct. 19th, 2007. Still, the fact that it is in 3D makes me very excited and I can’t wait to see it! Thanks to Howard and Dan for bringing this faux pas to my attention.
This is hard for me to admit, but I have found something that Will Ferrell is funny in. Although, I have also been told I need to give Stranger than Fiction a chance. After seeing this, I just might have to. Pearl is hysterical!
It’s time for another roundup of odd and interesting things that Gizmodo has found to make our life more productive (or at least more entertaining)!
To start it off, here is an interesting USB hub and flash sticks from those kooky japanese! 🙂
Ever wanted to play with a lifesize version of the classic game Mousetrap?
Never fret about being without pen and paper again! This handy little pen has it all!
This could prove to be a fun little to for the geek in your family! It’s the next step in the evolution of water powered vehicles. It would be fun to have a race between this and my steam engine tractor! Of course the high tech look tells me that it would probably win.
Ever get frustrated with that traditional closet hanger? Why not try this new version. Make your closet a work of art even.
