Finally Started That Band! ;)

I grabbed this fun little Meme from Howard.

First, the meme:
You are in a band. Your band is about to release their first CD. Now, follow these directions to build it. Go to

1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first article title on the page is the name of your band.

2. http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The tail (last three or four words) of the very last quote is the title of your album.

3. http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days/
The third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

4. Use the graphics program of your choice to put them together into your first CD.

5. http://mdbenoit.com/rtg.htm
Go to the random title generator site and come up with the names of the 12 tracks!

So I proudly introduce to you the newest band to hit the alternative scene

Randomness Of 8

This comes from Spicy… Randomness ensues

I have to post these rules: one, each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves. Two, people who are tagged need to write their own blog entry about their eight things and post these rules. Three, at the end of your entry, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names/pseudonyms/blogs. Four, don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog. Ready? Here goes!

1. I hit the snooze at least 7 times before finally getting up in the morning.

2. This is the first summer in 15 years that I have not worked at Elitch Gardens. Although, I will probably still go back and work the Haunted House.

3. I delivered papers for 10 years to cover the cost of summer camp because my parents wouldn’t pay for it.

4. I am deathly afraid of heights, but will ride on a rollercoaster, regardless of how tall it is. (Yes, the Eiffel Tower was torture!)

5. I am days away from celebrating my 3rd anniversary with Dan on June 30th!

6. I have a severe phobia of needles… Can’t even watch animated needles!

7. I have now seen Erasure live 7 times in 5 different cities, and 2 countries.

8. If it’s got lime in it, I’ll always give it a try!

I tag… Dusty, Howard, Kath, Ryan, HDW, Bossy, Kevin and bluedogmobile.

Meme: Why Velma Stalks Erasure on a Rollercoaster While Eating Cocoa Lucky Charms?

Howard recently did a twist on the meme that had been passed on to him. He asked his readers to indicate they wanted to be tagged and then he would send them five questions based on his research into that person’s blog. Here’s what he sent:

1. What did Vince and Andy ever do to you to make you stalk them?

They wrote the first song that I ever had an emotional attachment to. I was sitting in ConTeCo (that was the student center snack bar at my college) and this song came on the jukebox that just hit an accord with me immediately. I had to run over to the machine and see who it was. I had heard of Erasure before as their song “Chains of Love” was such a big hit the year before I went off to college. But it was their, at the time, lesser known “A Little Respect,” that I had heard. The funny thing is, now, the latter is pretty much the only one I hear on the radio.

I had come to the college wrestling with my being gay, figuring the college would help me get over it (but that’s another whole post, that is in the works). Something about the lyrics started the fire that kindled in me for a few years before coming out. I immediately bought The Innocents, and then Wild was my selection of the month from Columbia House so I bought it. Then in my printing class, I met another student that was a huge fan, and she introduced me to the back catalog I didn’t know about. The rest is history now!

Still after 6 concerts, I have not managed to meet them in person. Someday! someday

2. If you could be any Scooby-Doo character, which would it be?

Well, I thought about it, and being that Dan said the same thing, I would have to say Velma. I would have to say it’s mostly cause no one ever listens to me.

3. You can make your own custom Magic 8-Ball. Tell us 5 of your answers.

He’s a Major Geek!

Sorry… Not this month, or the next, hell, just try again next year.
(well, I guess that no longer applies to me!)

Is it more than 2 hours long?

Only if it comes with 0% financing!

I’m sorry, were you talking again?

4. Cocoa-Puffs or Lucky Charms? Why?

Well, that one is an easy one! Cocoa Lucky Charms! 🙂 You get the chocolaty milk to drink up at the end, but still get those wonderfully delicious stale marshmallows! And you know, Lucky, They say, once you go chocolate, you never go back! Of course if “they,” whoever that is, were right, I wouldn’t be with Dan now.

5. How many loops in a roller coaster would it take for your chili fries to come back up?

I haven’t met a coaster that I couldn’t handle… I think the most I’ve been on is 7, and that didn’t seem to bother me. I look forward to seeing what new concoctions the amusement industry throws our way! I still need to make it on Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point! The one that launches you from zero to 120 mph in like 5 seconds, up into the sky 400+ feet and plunging you back straight down through a spiral! Damn it for being closed every time I have been there!

In all honesty, it’s not the coasters that get me, it’s the rides that spin me around and around that I will not go on, i.e. the Tilt-a-Hurl, or the Spewcups. But some of that was from the out-of-control employee party where we were all blitzed, and one of the park supervisors had the great idea to put us all on the teacups. Left us going for 15 minutes straight! I think that was the closest I ever came to puking, and if it hadn’t been for park security coming by, and the supervisor turning off the ride so we didn’t get caught, I probably would have!

Wanna play now? Here’s how:

* Leave me a comment saying, “Interview me.”
* I will respond by asking you five questions. I get to pick the questions.
* You update your blog with the answers to the questions.
* You include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.
* When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.
* Rinse. Repeat.

Hmmm…. 5 Reasons Eh? Why I Blog!

I have been working on this for a few days now, so I apologize for the lack of posting yesterday! 🙂

So, this bit of Meme fun was again passed on to me from Howard, who revceived it from Andy. So I take the tag in stride, and present the 5 reasons I blog.

1. Because, Dan told me I had to! He keeps a livejournal, and told me I could only see it if I decided to blog. He had wanted me to join livejournal, but I didn’t really like it. So I tried blogger, and didn’t like it. Then came iWeb, so I finally ventured into blogging. Well here I am now on wordpress after hating iWeb’s incapability to grow over time. I didn’t think I would enjoy blogging, so I resisted, now, I am unstopable. 🙂 Now if I could just get Dan to start posting more!

2. It gives me an outlet to share things that I find funny, or that I just need to vent about to nobody in particular. Many times I have had fun little stories that have come along that I felt the need to share. Blogging has given me the opportunity to do that to a much wider audience! Even more so now on WordPress. People are actually finding this blog!

3. Because it has turned out to be a lot more fun than I imagined it would be. Before I started, I didn’t find much fun in writing, and thought that would be the case for blogging. I didn’t think I could possibly find anything to write about, but, Hey, what do you know, it turns out I have been able to find stuff to keep this going for almost a year now!

4. I do a lot of it for myself, but in the end it is out there for the people that read my blog. I am enjoying the positive responses lately that I have been getting about my blog. I would say in turn, it has been good for my self esteem, a by-product that I did not expect! While this may not be a reason I started blogging, it is a reason that I continue to blog.

5. It has given me a great way for people that I don’t see very often, or that don’t know me very well, to see inside myself a little. However, I think the end result is that they have seen just how much of a real dork I am!

I am sure there are other reasons that are unknown to my psyche that have kept me blogging, but these are the big ones. I hope that I can continue to inform and entertain you all! Thanks for reading!

Apparently, this seems to be a hot subject. There is a contest out there now to win prizes at www.whydoyoublog.com. Thanks to Amber at Adorablay Animals for that heads up!

Engtech is also hosting a little contest about why I started this blog. I had originally thought about entering his contest writing a post about something technology based, but this works just as well! 🙂

Ah, well, now who to pass this on to… Well the first person I wanted to tag, beat me to it. Amber put up her reasons this morning. So next is Anthony, Dusty, Dan and finally The Hermit! Get going all! 🙂

No Surprise Here!

So I took this test to see what American Accent I have… Not surprisingly, it came up as from the West… Being that I grew up in Colorado, I guess it was to be expected!

What American accent do you have?

Your Result: The West

Your accent is the lowest common denominator of American speech. Unless you’re a SoCal surfer, no one thinks you have an accent. And really, you may not even be from the West at all, you could easily be from Florida or one of those big Southern cities like Dallas or Atlanta.

The Midland

Boston

North Central

The Inland North

Philadelphia

The South

Neuroticism at it’s Finest

images.png
You are introverted, reserved, and quiet with a preference for solitude and solitary activities. Your socializing tends to be restricted to a few close friends. You can be easily upset, even by what people consider the normal demands of living. People consider you to be sensitive and emotional. A desire for tradition does not prevent you from trying new things. Your thinking is neither simple nor complex. To others you appear to be a well-educated person but not an intellectual. You have some concern with others’ needs, and are generally pleasant, sympathetic, and cooperative. You are reasonably reliable, organized, and self-controlled.

This report compares you to other men between the ages of 21 and 40 in United States. It analyses you based on each of the five broad personality domains of the Five-Factor Model (Goldberg, L R. 1999), and the six sub domains at each level.
