Weekly Blog-O-Sphere Tid-Bits – February 17, 2007

Some big goings on in the the Blog-O-Sphere this week!

First, looks like the real father of Anna Nicole Smith’s Daughter Dannielynn has come forward over at Jeff C.’s new improved Footprints on the Ceiling, and it appears to be a local!

On a more serious note, one of my newer blogging friend’s, Amber, posts about her Skittles being diagnosed with Feline Luekemia. Please send her well wishes as she goes through this rough time! You can also read about what exactly Feline Luekemia is, and what it does as well as symptoms.

Fastlad has brought us an article that shows the real way to hate gay people. And it isn’t the way NBA player, Tim Hardaway, did it. Really makes me sad that people can’t all just get along. 😦

Howard and Fastlad brought this lighthearted look at the 3 Musketter’s commercial that is making the other one Snicker:

Gizmodo brings us a look another advancement in Japanese Vending Machine technology! It sure makes those iPod vending machines pale in comparison!

Scott-O-Rama brings us this bizarre look at wedding rituals.

Howard has an interesting read about labeling people these days and how it has gotten out of control and being used in a bad light.

A few weeks ago, Out in Hollywood posted about Hasselhoff taking one of the leads in “The Producers” in Vegas. Well this week he has posted pictures of Hasselhoff getting all dolled up, and boy does he look like a drag!

I helped Dan get his header together for his blog this week, chocked full of naked men to attract the gay men to his site! It seems to be a requirement for gay blogs.

And finally, as of this posting, the number of spam comments Akismet has saved me from has outnumbered the number of actual comments I have on my blog! 420 to 418 as of right now.

Merry Christmas: Now Kill the Non-Believers!

The Religious Right is at it again, this time in the form of a video game, the religious right’s violent and hateful video game Left Behind: Eternal Forces.

left-behind-eternal-forces-20060407021617044.png

“This brutal game urges born-again Christians to convert or kill others
who don’t adhere to their extreme ideology – including Muslims, Jews,
and Catholics. While the religious right has not yet come out against this
hate and intolerance masquerading as a children’s game, America’s #1
video game seller should know better.”
– DEFCON

DEFCON is trying to get Wal-Mart to stop carrying this hateful video game, and they need our help to send letters to Wal-Mart asking them to re-evaluate this vicious game. You can find their letter here to sign and send.

It will be interesting to see how Wal-Mart reacts to this. Not wanting to be boycotted by the religious right, they reversed their decision to join the Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce. Their reasoning was that they didn’t want to be involved in anything controversial. So with the controversial nature of this game, it will be interesting to see if they decide that this is a controversial issue to stay away from as well.

The religious right is arguing that banning this game is against the 1st amendment. While, it can be seen as that, it is more an issue with a game that is being sold as a religious enlightenment game, that just happens to encourage the killing of people that don’t conform to Christianity. If this were a muslim game promoting the idea of killing people for not believing their ideals, it wouldn’t even make it to the market! This just shows how tight a grasp the right wingnuts have on this country. It’s almost like a training video for a religious war to be unleashed on the world.

Please if you feel the same way as I and DEFCON, please I urge you to go to their site and ask that Wal-Mart reconsider selling this new game, especially now during the holidays when Peace and Understanding are the morals that are supposedly being shown. Parents need to be educated as to what this game is all about!

Ted Haggard Is Just Scary!

I came across this interview of Ted Haggard. It is truly scary to me that he had the opportunity to preach to thousands of people his beliefs. He is a very arrogant, pompous and hypocritical man, even though he is calling the interviewer the pompous man. Regardless of wether he did or didn’t have gay sex, this man needed to be taken out of his position of power. His hateful, and misleading rhetoric has no place in today’s society! As you will see, I think his interview speaks for itself. I wouldn’t be surprised if he wasn’t on that meth while being interviewed!

On a funny note, Dan passed on this hilarious link to me!

Don’t Mock My God, Pt. 2

icecream.png
A while back, I posted about how Isaac Hayes was upset with South Park and left the show for mocking Scientology. We’ll I bring another ridiculous installment in Don’t Mock My God!

Business Development Manager Rashad Akhtar of High Wycombe went into his local Burger King. He saw the lid of their ice cream cone with a design that is supposed to be a stylized soft serve ice cream swirl. He saw a major similarity to the symbol for Allah and believes that Burger King is threatening a “jihad.” He felt that it was Sacrilegious.

He is quoted as saying: “This is my jihad. How can you say it is a spinning swirl? If you spin it one way to the right you are offending Muslims.”

As a result Burger King has recalled all their ice cream cones in the UK, and is spending thousands of pounds now to redesign the lid.

This world has just become far too sensitive!

Weekly Blog-O-Sphere Tid-Bits – July 29, 2006

Another week has passed… Here are some interesting tid-bits I came across this past week.

At Life After Coffee, they have stumbled across a man who makes a very fun and interesting kite.

At the Web Pen, he has posted a video about the FCC that everyone must see!

The Malcontent has posted a video of the hilarious events that took place during a live broadcast showing how easy it is to cut the chain off a bike.

Fastlad has a video interview with Fred Phelps, Jr. posted where a reporter tries to make a pass at the crazy old man!

The next one, I warn you is not for the shy… This is a hilarious blog that Dan sent me this week. This guy cheated on his boyfriend, and his boyfried’s punishment is that he has to post a picture of his butt everyday for a year.

And Dan starts his new blog this week, starting off with his frustrations of MySpace!

Gotta Love Jon Stewart!

williamsstewart.png
No matter where you stand on your feelings about Gay Marriage, you have to agree that the defeat of the FMA is a huge success for freedom in this country. On Tuesday’s Daily Show, Jon Stewart interviewed former Education Secretary, William Bennett, Author of America: The Last Best Hope (Volume I). The topic of discussion was the Federal Marriage Amendment. Yes, the very one that Bush himself spoke of his support for this past Monday.

The Malcontent has a blog containing the clip of this interview for you to watch. A great interview by Stewart! I think one of his best points in the interview is when he tells Bennett that this is a debate about wether the gay community is part of the human condition or just another random fetish in response to Bennett say that it’s a debate between wether you believe that marriage is between a man and woman, or between whoever. Jon gets some great points in, and by the end Bennett even admits that Gay Marriage is inevitable.

Yesterday, the Senate sent a very clear message that we shouldn’t be writing discrimination into our constitution, regardless of what it is that it is “supposed” to be protecting. I said that regardless of your stance on Gay Marriage, you should be glad that this didn’t pass. What do I mean by that? Exactly this: If this had passed, it would have sent a precedence that could have resulted in many more amendments that you might have had issue with. Jon Stewart uses the example of maybe someday they decide that only certain classes of people can get married. Maybe a stretch, but it’s something to think about.

While I am in no rush to want to get married, I do want to know that someday if Dan and I were to decide to take it to that next level that it would be legally recognized, and be extended the tax benefits, health, and hospital visitation rights of any other “legal” couple out there. Yesterday’s defeat is a sign that maybe someday this might be a reality for us.

Sensitivity Shmensitivity! Don’t Mock My God!

Long time cast member of “South Park” Isaac Hayes has left the show after 9 seasons due to religious differences. He feels that the writers have crossed a line in too far with their stance on religious, and also that they are bigoted towards religion. This as a result of a recent episode that made fun of Scientology, a religion that Mr. Hayes is a long time and devoted member of.

Story

Matt Stone has been quoted as saying:

“This is 100 percent having to do with his faith of Scientology… He has no problem _ and he’s cashed plenty of checks _ with our show making fun of Christians.” -Associated Press

In this day of Political Correctness, we need shows like South Park that cross that line to make us realize how ridiculous many of our traditions and practices are. I am sad to see him leave the show, but if he can’t laugh at himself, then he really has no right to laugh at others! I think one of Dan’s friends has the perfect solution to deal with Chef’s character. Fuck You Dan (as I refer to him, since he says Fuck every other word) thinks that they should have Chef have some horrible accident that leaves Chef white. Then they have Barry Manilow come in as his replacement for Chef’s voice!
